The cancellation of the traditional 2020 IFA trade show in Berlin inspired exhibitors to find creative ways of showcasing their latest electronic gadgets and home appliances. During the three-day exhibition this week, consumers have been able to enjoy state-of-the-art insights into new products from the comfort of their own home – or mobile device.
The ideal digital scenario, in fact, for couples seeking high-tech options for a truly exceptional wedding anniversary gift – for both partners. And the show is just beginning. At least in the case of LG Electronics, which is continuing its virtual exhibition throughout September featuring latest innovations and the company’s vision for the home of the future.
LG created its own physical smart home showroom in Korea “to demonstrate how LG products work seamlessly together to deliver the best home experience possible”. In addition to this showroom and interactive video content, LG’s virtual IFA booth was set up to “provide a compelling interactive experience of how the company is making home living more relaxing, efficient and rewarding… maximising convenience and comfort for families and individuals who are spending more time at home”.
Under the theme “Experience LG Like Never Before”, a realistic rendering of Hall 18 of Messe Berlin (including local time and weather) gives visitors a chance to explore the company’s latest smart home appliances and integrated services.
The exhibition was designed as a fun, interactive experience enabling people to freely explore the exhibit as if in a game. LG’s comprehensive range of products can be viewed in seven dedicated zones. Organised around the three themes of “Health”, “Hygiene”, and “Convenience”, the “Reimagine Your Life @ Home with LG” zones demonstrate “how a home can be made even more relieving and hygienic with technology”. LG technology is shown improving the air we breathe, ensuring appropriate hygiene for clothing and dishes, and creating a more healthy culinary life.
Suitably intrigued, we delved further into LG’s 2020 product range, and came up with four gift options that would certainly add the wow factor to this year’s wedding anniversary celebrations – while also enhancing any couple’s home ambience in a chic and cutting-edge way.
The newest LG CineBeam 4K UHD Laser projector has been designed by LG Electronics to deliver an authentic movie theatre experience in the comfort of people’s homes. In addition to its cinematic quality picture, the model offers convenient access to movies released direct to streaming services via compatibility with popular content streaming apps.
The projector runs LG’s newest webOS 5.0 platform for intuitive control and navigation, and is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Screen Share, enabling viewers to share content from smartphones and tablets at cinematic scale.
LG has unveiled new refrigerator models featuring kitchen innovation that uses the power of light to improve health and hygiene. The LG InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator with UVnano utilises ultraviolet LED light technology to disinfect the water dispenser outlets once every hour (or anytime manually) and remove up to 99.99 percent of bacteria and viruses.
Featuring LG’s newest consumer-centric AI platform, the LG InstaView ThinQ refrigerator has been designed “to make ingredient management, food shopping, cooking and even cleaning up a whole lot simpler”. Any item placed inside or removed from the refrigerator is automatically tracked via LG’s vision recognition technology. Powered by AI Connect, it can offer owners meal suggestions based on the food inventory, inform the water purifier how much water is required to prepare a meal, set a connected oven to the right cooking temperature based on the recipe, and choose the optimal wash cycle for the dishwasher based on the meal.
A washing machine and dryer combined in a single unit with LG’s latest technologies and smart features, the LG WashTower is designed from the ground up as a “one body” solution. At the beginning of the wash cycle, the integrated unit indicates how long it will take to complete both washing and drying. The washer also shares information with the dryer, which automatically sets the optimal course and preheats the drum, “contributing to better results and shorter overall laundry times”.
Unlike a stackable washer and dryer where each appliance has its own control panel, the WashTower offers the convenience of a single, intuitive interface for managing every aspect of LG’s complete laundry solution.
Considered a global leader in clean air solutions, and committed to promoting healthy and hygienic lifestyles, LG has created an entire new category of wearable air purifier technology to deliver an enhanced level of portable protection.
The LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier is said to “resolve the dilemma of homemade masks being of inconsistent quality and disposal masks being in short supply”. It employs two H13 HEPA filters, similar to the filters used in the company’s home air purifier products.
High-performance replaceable filters enable PuriCare Wearable to supply fresh, clean air indoor and out, while dual three-speed fans automatically speed up to assist air intake and slow down to reduce resistance when exhaling “to make breathing effortless”.
Ergonomically designed based on extensive facial shape analysis, the LG PuriCare Wearable fits snugly on a user’s face to minimise air leakage around the nose and chin. The design also makes it possible to wear the unit comfortably for several hours.
