About 39th Wedding Anniversaries
Just 12 months to another tremendous marriage milestone. In the meantime, however, the countdown continues… on your 39th wedding anniversary you would have been married for 14,235 days or 341,640 hours or 20,498,400 minutes. Really – where did that time go?
Earlier anniversary years would have had certain gemstones and other items connected to them by tradition. The 39th wedding anniversary is different, with no classic symbols – apart from agate in some societies. This means you are free to think of uniquely creative gifts to buy your loved one.
How to Celebrate a 39th Wedding Anniversary
There are so many attractive destination options for a celebratory getaway that many couples tend to become a little overwhelmed when faced with making a decision.
Make things considerably easier for yourself by consulting a professional travel agent to help you. They can provide invaluable specialist insight into the ideal places and best prices. So, based on your budget and preferences, you should have less trouble settling on the most appealing destination.
Of course, you could decide instead to surprise your partner, and not let them in on your travel plans. Obviously, you will need to bear in mind their tastes, especially if they vary from yours.
Alternatively, if you prefer to stay at home this year and spend some more time with your loved ones, you could always organise a casual party at home or in a favourite local restaurant or bistro pub.
I consider lace to be one of the prettiest imitations ever made of the fantasy of nature.” Quoted by: Coco Chanel
39th Wedding Anniversary Gifts for Him, Her… and the Couple
To help give you plenty of inspiration, one modern-day gift is lace. This stunning fabric is usually handmade and, while it reached a pinnacle of its popularity in the 15th and 16th centuries, it has more recently come back into vogue – still offering a regally upmarket look.
If you decide to buck tradition and observe the occasion in your own special way, still make sure you carefully take into account your spouse’s likes and interests when deciding on the perfect gift or activity.

Something Different & Unique
- Travel is always a wonderful way to celebrate any anniversary, so why not plan a romantic getaway to one of Europe’s enchanting cities?
- Visit a major lace-making area in the UK – for example, the Lace Guild in Stourbridge.
- Or travel further afield to Flanders and Brussels, where they have a long and venerable history of lace-making.
- One of the tracks on Queen’s album A Night At the Opera is “39”… so how about a night out to take in a music concert or theatre show (doesn’t have to be opera if that genre is not to your taste), followed by a candlelit dinner.
As you are coming up to your 40th wedding anniversary, you might be thinking further ahead and planning something incredible for next year. So for the 39th wedding anniversary gift you could opt to buy a hamper of smaller presents for your spouse.
Or maybe you need something new for your home, especially if you are going to be hosting your 40th anniversary there and want it to be in tip-top shape for the revelry. If that is the case, this year a couple of shared gifts would certainly be appropriate – with a bottle of bubbly to toast the forthcoming 12 months that will take you to four amazing decades of married life.

I want to do something for my girlfriend and her husbsnd for their 39th anniversary. It does not have to be a big to do but I do want to acknowkedge their 14,235 days or their 341,540 hours or their 20,495,400 minutes together. This is an accomplishment very few boomers are able to achieve. I dont have a large budget nor much energy can you give me any suggestions I am drawing a blank. Thsnk you
It’s my 39th Anniversary today… and I would love it if my husband surprised me w/ a lace bustier, garters, ‘accessories’, etc. He’s always saying that’s the kind of gift that’s for both of us, the gift that keeps on giving !
So maybe that w/ bottle champagne or else non-alcoholic bubbly and candles w/ lace wrapped around the base. Romantic (translation… dim) lighting always a bonus for us boomers,as getting a wee bit older. Cheers !
Wow, 39! That’s fantastic. Hope you have a lovely day and your husband does a great romantic surprise for you! Have a lovely day.
I just wrote a long txt about WHY I want to make my sister and brother in law 39th Anniversary this September special but just from me. They are the only couple of ALL my siblings to not divorced and sadly after years of trying everything no children. I wont be able to celebrate their 40th next year as i have a terminal illness and bedridden. I’m the youngest and shes the oldest of us children and has many nieces and nephews/great nieces and nephews and God children. The honeymoon was in Jersey..can anyone help me think of something from ME this year please?
Hi Abi sandi! Why not get you sister and brother in law personalised wine glasses with a really special message and the number 39 on them? This way, they will always remember you when they drink out of them! You can find these wine glasses above for only 20 pounds! If not, you could always buy them an experience, such as a luxury spa day for two or an afternoon tea for two! If you need any more suggestions, let me know! I hope this helped!
